An investigation of ossification center was performed by Roentgenogram of the wrist and ankle joint for 100 Korean healthy newborn infants within 48 hours after birth.
The results are as follows :
1) At the wrist joint an osssificaticn center was present in as capitatum in 6 out of 100 cases and in os hamatum in 3 of them.
2) At the ankle joint a center was visible in talus ant: calcaneous in all of 100 cases, in os cuboides in 22, and in os cuneiformia III in 4.
3) In the wrist joint, ossification°-centers appeared earlier in male infants than-in female, In the ankle joint they appeared earlier in female infants than in male.
4) Ossification centers appeared earlier in the right wrist or ankle than in the left.
5) There appeared to be no relationship between tin appearance of ossification centers and the weight of the term babies.
